Raw Milk Herd Share

You can not buy or sell raw milk (unprocessed) in the state of Virginia, it is illegal. But if you own the cow, it is not illegal to drink the fresh raw milk that comes from it! Fitrah Farms does not sell raw milk, we sell herd shares and shareholders become part owners of our herd of cows. By purchasing a share of our herd you are actually receiving milk from your own cows. Fitrah Farms will perform a service for you by caring for, feeding, giving water, milking your cow, and at any time you may visit your cow. The biggest benefit you get from this is by using the milk from your herd share. You can buy as many shares as available, and use your milk in any way you find worthwhile, which is called HERD SHARING. Thousands of people in Virginia are using this 100% lawful method to acquire raw milk.

100% grass fed cows

Our cows are 100% grass-fed without any grains. They feast on pasture grass and alfalfa. In the winter when there is no grass they eat high-quality hay.  We do not use any chemical fertilizers on our pastures and grasses we use only natural . Our cows are never fed antibiotics nor hormones.

A2/A2 Proteins

If you are a person that is lactose-intolerant and have symptoms of bloating, gas and abdominal pain, A2/A2 milk can be the answer for you.  We don’t use the commercial dairy cows, our Brown Swiss cows carry the A2/A2 beta-casein protein gene that has been shown to help people digest milk.

high butterfat

Our Brown Swiss dairy cows have an average protein content of 3.5% & fat content of 4.6% on average. This high fat content means the milk is excellent for use to make heavy cream, butter, ice-cream and cheeses. There are many yummy recipes out there that turns raw milk into pure deliciousness.

How does a Herd Share work?

It’s very simple how the herd share works – We do all the hard work – milking, grazing, doctoring, delivering etc.  We do all this for a Boarding Fee of just $50.00 a month. It’s that simple.

At the onset, the Share-Holder pays a one-time, non-refundable $60 for a full (1) Herd-Share purchase. (1) Full share will provide the Share-holder with 1 gallon of raw milk on a weekly basis. Start up costs includes your Herd-Share purchase, first month boarding fee, and glass jars.   After that you settle into the routine and the boarding Fee is due at the beginning of each month.  You can cancel at anytime and your monthly boarding fee will be prorated. Half shares are also available.

  • You will have (2) glass jars full of milk delivered to you
  • When you return the (2) empty clean jars the following week, you will receive (2) more jars full of milk.
