You can choose to pay in full or place a $600 non-refundable deposit to reserve your puppy.  The deposit will go towards the total cost and the remaining balance will need to be paid before the puppy is 6 weeks old.

Once puppies are 6 weeks old the full amount of $1000 will be required to reserve a puppy.

Puppies are ready for their new homes at 8-10 weeks old per Virginia Law.

Welcome to Our Farm

• Our puppies are born and raised in the barn around our goats and lambs. They are given alot of love and attention.
• We have free-ranging chickens that roam the farm that are not “locked” up at night, our dogs are trained to protect them day and night.
• Since getting our first Great Pyrenees some years ago we have not lost any of our chickens and livestock to hawks, foxes, coyotes, or any other varmits that love to snack on farm animals.
• Some Great Pyrenees are born all white, some come out with darker ears, and some come out with a “badger” face. Usually the adults turn all white, but there are some with tan or gray ears. It is rare that a badger face pup will keep it to adulthood. Sadly there is no way to tell if any markings will stay or not.
• Best of all, our Great Pyrenees puppies are socialized daily and played with by children. We do our best to make sure each puppy goes to the best home possible. If anytime for any reason you no longer are able to keep your puppy/dog, we do want them returned to us. We love each and every one of our babies and never want to see them in a bad situation.

Charlie

Charlie has been with us since 2021. Despite his massive appearance, Charli is a shining example of the Great Pyrenees’ reputation of being a gentle giant, he loves children.

Myra

Myra, she joined the farm in 2020 as a product of Cody and Melody. Myra is very protective of our goats and sometimes babysits them in the barn. She enjoys cuddles and sitting in water troughs to obtain her signature “dirt pants.”

Frequently asked questions

Yes, we love having visitors to our small farm! However, due to current health guidelines we may limit in-person visits from time to time. We do not allow visits until they are 4 weeks old. Why? Because Mama has not yet finished weaning them. Once Mama knows they don’t “Need” her she will wean them off and they will start learning how to eat and drink their own food and water. If we allowed visits early Mom gets anxious and we don’t want a anxious Mama! So at 4 weeks you can come visit!

Our Great Pyrenees are Pure-Bred, but they are NOT AKC registered.

We currently have 500+ chicks, 80+ free-range laying chickens, 2 Brown Swiss dairy cows, 1 Brown Swiss bull, 6 Nigerian Dwarf goats, 6 lambs, a pair of Chinese Guard Geese, a pair of guinea fowl, 8 rabbits, 7 ducks, 2 barn cats. Our dogs and puppies protect and get along with all of our livestock and visitors that come to the farm.

Until about six weeks the puppies nurse, and we supplement their nursing with goat’s milk. At six weeks we begin introducing kibble. We feed our puppies and adult Great Pyrenees Victor Hi Pro Plus. We have found a high protein and high fat dog kibble keeps our livestock guardians happy and healthy. We also supplement our adult Great Pyrenees’ diet with fresh chicken eggs from our farm. The raw eggs help provide extra calcium and keep their coats soft and healthy.

Puppies that are destined to be primarily indoor family pets and companions are available to go to their forever homes at eight weeks.  For puppies that will be working livestock guardian dogs at their new home, we keep them for ten weeks, but offer to keep them up to twelve weeks to provide some “on-the-job training” with our adult Great Pyrenees. This bonus time with mom and dad helps to get them used to being around and guarding chickens, goats, lambs, and other livestock.

We will work with you to get your puppy to you safely. We will not fly any puppies via cargo. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the purchaser.

Things to Remember

• Great Pyrenees is a LGD breed but not all Great Pyrenees are LGDs. The first thing that you need to know when getting a LGD for your farm is that you are buying a livestock guardian dog. Your dog needs to come from a background of guarding livestock.
• The Pyr is a gentle dog, aloof around strangers and independent in nature. A strong trait is his love of children as well as tolerant, nurturing behavior with young animals. Despite the Pyr’s essential good nature and calm demeanor, socialization and training are required.
• Pyrs have a strong urge to expand their territory, which can result in roaming if not properly contained by fencing.
• Many Pyrenees work today as either general farm and home protectors or traditional livestock guard dogs. The Pyrenees works primarily through barking and warning threats, only making physical contact if the intruder persists. Owners often describe their dogs as territorial and active guardians at night.
