  • Full live detailed instruction from a homesteading family with take home handouts.
  • Discuss the importance of pasture raising animals and hand-slaughtering animals in a humane way.
  • Learn about the equipment used and hands-on experience with a live chicken. If you like you can participate or just watch.
  • Learn the difference between at home processing equipment vs. high production equipment. We will demonstrate both.
  • Tour of farm operations including the chick housing (brooders), chicken tractors (pasture-raised), and chicken coop and run.
  • You will be able to take home a chicken that you dispatched, processed, and packaged with your own hands and effort.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

We will provide a full refund for anyone cancelling 14 days before the class date.  Cancellation less than 14, but more than 7, days before the class is a 50% refund. No refund will be given for cancelling less than 7 days before the class.  If there is space in another class, in the same year, you have the option of transferring to it, otherwise the policy will be adhered to.  No refunds will be given to students who are unable to complete the class.

Things to Remember

• Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes you don’t mind getting bloody and wet. Aprons and rubber boots suggested but not required.
• We will provide lunch that will include pastured-raised chicken, so you can get a taste of how delicious your chicken will be.
• This class will need to be held outdoors/in the barn.  Participants need to be prepared for seasonal weather elements.
• All participants must be over 12 years old. We plan to have future classes /camps / workshops that involve only children.
• We do not allow spectators. Everyone in attendance must be a paid student.
